McEntee welcomes Navan/Kingscourt Greenway meeting with Minister O’Donovan
Local Minister and Meath East Fine Gael T.D. Helen McEntee has
welcomed a recent meeting held at her request with Cllr. Eugene
Cassidy and Fine Gael’s Junior Minister at the Department of
Transport, Tourism and Sport Patrick O’Donovan regarding the proposed
Navan to Kingscourt Boyne Valley Lakelands Greenway Project.
Minister O’Donovan’s Department are currently drawing up a new
Greenway Strategy for the whole country, and everyone who is applying
for funding will have to be in compliance with Department guidelines
and consistent with the vision of the new strategy.
Minister McEntee and Councillor Cassidy, who is Vice Chairman of Meath
County Council this year, highlighted to Minister O’Donovan that the
Navan to Kingscourt project is ‘shovel’ ready and has been in the
planning stages for some time. There is maximum local and stakeholder
engagement, including from neighbouring County Councils like Cavan and
The North Meath local Councillor and local Minister both state they
are hopeful that the project will secure funding, as it has many
health and tourism benefits for Meath, and surrounding Counties, which
they stressed to Minister O’Donovan in their very positive meeting.
