Minister McEntee welcomes €1.2 million to allow for planning of Slane By-Pass

Monday, 9th January 2017

“As a resident of Slane, and as a local T.D. and Minister of State, I
want to welcome the news from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII)
formerly the NRA, that €1.2 million has been allocated to the much
needed Slane By-Pass project in 2017. This is a major vote of
confidence in the project and will allow for the project’s renewed
planning application. The issues leading to its refusal in 2012 must
be studied and addressed by Meath County Council and other
stakeholders. In this regard I welcome the engagement of a Consultant
to identify and deal with these issues. This project is simply too
important to be delayed or frustrated any longer” local Meath East
Fine Gael T.D. and Minister for Mental Health and Older People Helen
McEntee has stated.

“An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, on a visit to Slane in the build up to the
2016 General Election listened to the concerns of the local community
and their Public Representatives from my own party and from other
parties too. He listened, we listened, and his Government, of which I
am proud to be a member, are now acting on what we heard. The Slane
By-Pass is part of TII’s list of 11 national projects ear marked for
funding. I will continue to work with Meath County Council staff and
elected members, the project consultants and all other stakeholders to
ensure a successful time line for completion of this project is now
progressed” Minister McEntee said.
